- What is the major theme of this novel? Why is this theme important to a teenager living in 2007?
-> The second book of my blog project is "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury. The book, "Fahrenheit 451", is a book about the world that the books are not allowed. The main character is Guy Montag. In Guy Montag's world, the books are not allowed to read. Actually, people are not even allowed to possess books. The government of the world made people not to read and possess books. It is because if the government let people read books, people are going to think and able to revolt against the government. The world where Montag lives, the governments want to control over the country. Guy Montag was a fireman. The meaning of fireman was different from the real meaning of firman in this world. The duty of the fireman in Montag's world was that they have to burn houses that possess books. At the beginning, Montag was interested in his job. He didn't know what was going on, and he just did his best on his work. One day, he met a seven teen years old girl called Clarisse. She was a special girl. She was very thoughtful, and definitely different from other girls. Later, Montag realized that he should not have burned books, because books are the best sources that can make people think creatively. So Montag tried to stop the situation. Then, there was an another guy called Beatty. He was the head of the fire station. He knew what was going on, and why they have to burn all the books and houses. Beatty knew all things that governments are trying to do were wrong. But he didn't have courage to resist on the government. Montag was different from Beatty. Montag tried to change the world, and make government let people read books. The author, Ray Bradbury, wanted to tell people that books are the best sources that can make people think creatively. These days, children and adults always use electronic devices such as televisions, radios, and computers. Seldom people read books. Ray Bradbury wanted to tell that people make book, and books make people.
